What Makes Raleigh Luxury Homes Different Than Traditional Homes?
Luxury homes vary in many ways from traditional homes on the market in the size of the home, lot size and the architectural features of the home, as well as the materials used to build the home. Often luxury homes are greater than 4,000 square feet, not including the basement and are located on lots greater than ½ acre, depending upon the location. Luxury townhomes and condominiums are typically located in either town centers or other highly desirable infill locations, allowing the homeowner to enjoy the luxury lifestyle, while also enjoying the benefits of city life, such as fine restaurants and entertainment and cultural venues.
Architectural features on the luxury home are focused on design elements, such as steep roofs, large doors and windows and other architectural styles that unique, with designs that are not copied from house to house. Additional architectural features of a luxury home include such things as elevators, media rooms, game rooms, grand entrances, grand staircases, in-suite bathrooms, heated floors, mother in-law suites, quest suites, heated floors, large outdoor living areas and garages holding 4 or more cars. Often these homes will have a number of landscaping features such as an outdoor spa and swimming pool, game court, tennis court, a number of hardscape features such as stone patios and multilevel terraces and retaining walls. In addition, the landscaping is professionally designed, installed and maintained with all planting material being mature with a dedicated irrigation system.
The materials used in a luxury home are a unique feature of the home. Often the interior of the home will have gourmet kitchens, with high appliances such as Viking, as well as granite tops and stone backsplashes. Imported stone and wood is typically used on all flooring, with carpet only used in bedrooms. Doors are typically solid core, while the trim used is large with unique profiles. Plumbing and electrical fixtures are all upgraded in size, quantity and quality from those used in traditional homes.
On the exterior of the home, all sides are usually brick, with any siding being either a hardwood or a cement board. Roofing is typically cedar wood shakes, slate or a heavy architectural shingle. Gutters and downspouts are usually copper, while windows and doors are wood.
